(meteorobs) Re: Eta Aquarids May 2/3 dull

Not much doing with the Etas yet. I observed May 2/3 315-427 EDT (715-827
UT) at a site 5 miles closer in than my regular site. Sky LM6.0, 2 Eta
Aquarids, 2 Mu Virginids (3 seconds apart), and 5 sporadics. Cirrus,
scattered cumulus, and fog all closed in together and ended it. Had a full
hour to go. A front is coming in a few hours and it's murky outside now.
Will skip tonight in favor of better conditions expected for the max period.

I would say anyone north of here should face east for the Etas. Especially
for lat 40oN and higher, not to see higher rates, but to better your chances
of seeing anything at all.

Here is a challenge. How far north can anyone see an Eta Aquarid BELOW the
radiant? It's routine here, but there has to be a northern limit.

Mail has indeed been very quiet for a few days. Very active the prior week
but not entirely with solid content. Something has to come along and rattle
the bushes, then volume will pick up.
