(meteorobs) May 13 Observations
-- [ From: Robert Lunsford * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] --
I observed for 4 hours from the Descanso Observatory. I counted a total
of 46 meteors during the 4 hour session. My prime objective of the night
was to confirm any activity from a radiant near Delta Cygni which could
be produced by debris from Comet Iras-Araki-Alcock. This radiant could
also be related to the activity mentioned by Norman McLeod from Lyra
last week. It turns out that I had a total of 4 plots that intersect
near 300 +43. All 4 had similar speeds averaging 14 degrees per second.
A total surprise was the fact that 7 plotted meteors intersected at a
radiant located just southeast of Alpha Ophiuchi (265 +11). There was a
slight variation in velocities with a average of 10 degrees per second.
It should be noted that 3 of these meteors also lined up with another
radiant and could belong to either one. Plots from last week indicate 3
more possible candidates with similar velocities from a radiant west of
Alpha Ophiuchi.
To lend reference to the degrees per second scale; the 10 Eta Aquarids
seen this morning averaged 26 degrees per second. 10 degrees per second
would probably be of medium velocity while 14 would be closer to the
border of medium-fast.

I plotted all 4 hours. No clouds were seen during the entire session. I
was facing east southeast at an altitude of 70 degrees.
