How about driving along I-15 toward Vegas out in the desert in your pickup
truck with its 11-foot-high CB radio antenna whipping around; and reaching
for the cigarette lighter just as the road runs under one set of those
lines, and getting a slight shock? THAT'S shocking! Happened to me once.
Them power lines coming away from Hoover dam must be some kinda high
voltage; I've heard 500 kilovolts mentioned. The seat in my truck had an
aftermarket velvet slipcover which I threw away when I got home from that
trip; my girlfriend got so tired of building a static charge every time she
slipped over the seat to kiss...I never decided whether the lighter shocked
me from static or the overhead power lines...

If you live near those big things in the desert, you would be amazed at how
much they droop when the weather's really hot, and how much higher they are
when it's cooler.

Haven't seen any visual meteor reports for this morning yet; but the ones
posted earlier this week were vely intelesting. I've been conducting daily
morning radio meteor scatter shedules with another ham in Kentucky; and some
days have been really poor with very few reflections, a couple have been OK,
and this morning was about the best I've heard in a couple of months. My
observations appeared to coincide with the reports posted here this week.
Please keep posting, folks!

Clear skies,
