Re: (meteorobs) Electrophonic Sounds

Once in the late sixties, I observed a fireball of and heard a faint noise a few seconds
after it had vanished. However I have heard of reports of people hearing sounds that
coincided with the meteor observation. Additionally there have been reports of people
hearing similar sounds when seeing aurorae. There is a very reliable report of one
occasion when on a polar expedition, some members wer observing an auroral display. These
individuals heard nothing, but they were joined by a third member who came out of the tent
to see what was causing the rushing noise he was hearing.

This seems to indicate that disturbances in the upper atmosphere cause disturbances in the
EM band. If so, it amy be possible to build a detector to record such disturbances.
