(meteorobs) June Lyrids
Here are, as promised, the data for the three June Lyrids:
17.06.99:
=========
23:46:01 Meteor #6 at (0.67,1.00)->(0.60,0.85) frames=10 dur=0.62s pixel=7
dir=246deg vel=9.9deg/s sigma=2.3
shower=JLY bright=1.0mag raddist=1.4deg exp vel=6.6deg/s
(19.892h,46.76deg) -> (20.408h,49.73deg) acc=4.7'
This meteor was quite fast for a JLY (9.9 deg/s, 6.6 deg/s expected for a
JLY) but the backward prolongation missed the radiant center only by 1.4
degree. The accuracy of the trail is very good, since the meteor appeared
on 10 video frames.
19.06.99:
=========
22:16:58 Meteor #6 at (0.56,0.52)->(0.50,0.45) frames=4 dur=0.42s pixel=6
dir=232deg vel=9.1deg/s sigma=1.4
shower=JLY bright=0.8mag raddist=0.5deg exp vel=6.4deg/s
(20.302h,49.45deg) -> (20.643h,51.03deg) acc=1.0'
This meteor is again a little too fast (9.1 instead of 6.4 deg/s), but
fits even better to the JLY radiant.
00:03:51 Meteor #11 at (0.82,0.64)->(0.81,0.60) frames=3 dur=0.22s pixel=3
dir=264deg vel=7.0deg/s sigma=1.2
shower=JLY bright=1.2mag raddist=2.2deg exp vel=8.6deg/s
(21.418h,38.71deg) -> (21.537h,38.60deg) acc=1.3'
The final meteor has only a short trail, so it's path is not that good
defined. This time the velocity fits better and the backward prolongation
missed the JLY radiant by two deg.
I will not send the three pictures to the list, as they are 50 kB in size.
If you want to have a look at them, just drop me a mail.
Again, I did not check for Xi Draconids. Which radiant position (+drift,
geocentric velocity, etc.) is expected for this shower?
Best wishes, Sirko
