(meteorobs) Observations Feb 02/03
We had a nice clear night at my home here in Maui, so I stepped outside
and did 1 hr of Teff in the mid-evening time. Generally rates were lower
than usual, only 4 meteors were seen under LM=6.1
Again, the best (and only) non-SPO were the southern radiants, with the
DVE producing one spectacular mag 0, right down the center of the milky
way in Auriga. Its trajectory and path/radiant were good, but its
velocity seemed somewhat slow for DVE? But since 2/3 criteria fit, I
will go with it as a DVE not SPO.
It was too early to confirm Xi Bootids, the radiant had not risen yet.
Gegenschein visible again, but not quite as well as a few nights ago.
During the day I noticed the atmospheric clarity was less than usual,
with some whitish haze making it difficult to see the island Molokai
about 30miles away, which is usually quite clear. It may have been high
levels of watervapor, also reduced the LM slightly.
Mike.

Note: One beautiful DVE passed through Auriga, with 35° path.
Only its velocity seemed somewhat slow (10°/sec), but trajectory
and path/radiant ratio were correct.
