(meteorobs) morning eta Aqu viewing
This past week when I got up early in the morning I had observed clear
skies. Since I have been getting unusual viewing from my light polluted
back yard down to LM of 4, I set my alarm for 2:45 hoping to get an
hours viewing before morning twilight and a little after. The hope was
based partly on the reports of very bright eta Aquarids. But no such
luck. A condition we call Catalina Eddy is active and brought in the
clouds from the ocean. I am in Southern California at 118o W longitude
and 34o North latitude just west of Pasadena about eight to twelve miles
from the ocean depending on which way you go. Inland the sky was very
clear according to the weather maps.
